Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

I know I've seen a lot of people do this tag on youtube, the first one started by the youtuber thebookarcher. I thought it'd look fun, so I decided to do it myself!

What is a popular book or series that you didn’t like?

The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I was going to go with the other choice of Twilight, but I did like Twilight when I was in High School so I'm not going to count that even though I stopped liking it after a year and a half. The book didn't hook me, and I couldn't even finish it.

The problem with me is if I especially don't like a book, I will set it down and I will never pick it up again. Another popular book that I'm not particularly fond of is Harry Potter, though granted I did like the Prisoner of Azkaban.

What is a popular book or series that everyone else seems to hate but you love?

I don't think I have a book like that, at least not one that I can think of off the top of my head. Scrolling through youtube I did find a couple of people who didn't like the Shades of Magic series, they called it slow paced and boring. I wouldn't know if it's really hated though, as I don't really see where they're coming from.

What is a love triangle in a book or series where the main character ended up with the person you did not want them to end up with?

I don't think I've read a book other than Twilight that had a love triangle. And when I was a Twilight fan, Bella ended up with who I wanted her to end up with. As I grew older though I never reached for any book that had this trope in it.

What is a popular book genre that you hardly reach for?

Romance. I read books that have hints of romance in it, but I don't particularly go out of my way to pick up a romance book. None of that Nicholas Sparks stuff for me.

Though the Notebook was a pretty good movie. (It's because Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams though.)

What is a popular or beloved character that you do not like?

Harry. Potter.

I cannot stand Harry, I only read a couple of the HP series in the first place, but everytime I read it I found him so aggravating that I wish I could've just shoved him in the cupboard under the stairs again.

Who is a popular author that you can’t seem to get into?

Honestly, JK Rowling. I know I said I did read a couple of the HP series, but other than that I can't seem to find the will to read any of her other books. I do own Casual Vacancy, but it was kind of boring to me and I just can't get into it. At all.

What is a popular book trope that you are tired of seeing?

I don't know one at the top of my head, but I'm tired of the 'I can't live without my significant other' trope. I know it's normal to be sad if someone leaves you, but to the point where you can't function? I'm looking at you, Bella.

What is a popular book or series that you have no interest in reading?

Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. It's already gotten too long of a series and I don't have the time or interest to try.

What is a movie or TV show adaption of a book or series that you like more than the book/s?

I don't think I have a favorite. I always prefer the book.

Anyways, I don't have anyone to tag and technically no one had tagged me. But it looked so fun I figured I'd give it a go so I hope you enjoyed!

If you see this and you want to do this yourself, consider yourself tagged!

Books I Recommend.

These are the books that I love personally, and though some of them are very popular indeed-I still quite enjoyed them for what they were. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden Before anyone jumps the gun about how problematic the relationship between the Chairman and Sayuri is, I know. I know it is, and a long time ago I even idolized that couple-but I realize now that it has it's issues and despite that I still recommend this book. The one main reason why is that despite all of it it's faults, the character of Hatsumomo is something that is not to be overlooked. If that made any sense at all. As a character I hated her at first, but rereading this multiple times I've come to realize that unlike Sayuri who grew to like it where she was (because of the Chairman) Hatsumomo only wanted one thing. To love freely. Her character arc was something I loved, and honestly after she left the story I found myself wanting to know more of what happened to h...

Hello!

“She bent most of the rules. She broke the rest.” ~A Gathering of Shadows (V.E. Schwab) Hello! For starters, I'm not new to the blogging scene-though I don't blog everyday or even every week. (I'm really bad at it sometimes.) But while my other blog deals with music and anime, I figured I would create a blog about books that I love whether they're ones I'm currently reading or ones I've read in the past. Unfortunately I don't have a mass collection like most book lovers, I don't have the space for it at the present moment. But I do have collections of different series by my favorite author and so I wanted to create this outlet to show love for the many worlds I've found myself sucked into. A little about myself, I am 27 years old and I currently live in Utah. I was an aspiring Author, still sort of am, but life happens and I haven't had the time. I'm hoping with my new career path, hopefully starting in the next few months, I w...

Favorite Author Highlight~V.E. Schwab~

"If Eli really was a hero, and Victor meant to stop him, did that make him a villain? He took a long sip of his drink, tipped his head back against the couch, and decided he could live with that.”  ~Vicious by V.E. Schwab If you haven't noticed by my header on top, that I am very fond of the Author V.E. Schwab (also known as Victoria Schwab, the name she uses for her Young Adult series.) A little backstory into how I found her books, and how I've come to love her writing style and the worlds that she builds. About a year and a half ago I was going through a reading slump. I still claimed that I loved to read, but I haven't found a book that I could really connect with. At least, not any new ones. I always fell back to the same books, such as the Giver by Lois Lowry (I do have the second book in that series, but have yet to pick it up) and Lord of the Rings. I was stagnant when it came to reading and it possibly had to do with my lack of motivation to pic...
